Dermatologists diagnose and treat a wide range of skin, hair, nail, and mucous membrane diseases and conditions. These can include acne, rosacea, and skin infections as well as the removal of warts, moles, and skin cancers. As a Dermatopathologist, Dr. Young is able to analyze the cause of skin problems at the microscopic level and can perform specialized testing on biopsy samples.
Dermatologists also perform various cosmetic procedures, including the treatment of photoaging, wrinkles, dark spots and leg veins.
Dr. Alexis Young has over a decade of training and experience and has lectured extensively at national and local conferences. She believes in the value of skin cancer screenings for all men and women. The American Cancer Society recommends general skin cancer screenings every three years in patients between 20 and 40 years of age and yearly in patients older than 40 years. Dr. Young performs dermoscopy, excisions, and other procedures for diagnosing and removing skin cancers and growths. Skin biopsies are performed in the office and samples are sent to labs for analysis. If you have sun-damaged skin, it is very important to have regular checkups. Dr. Young is also available for cosmetic consultations and treatments.
